What is the significance of one smart shift?

A move in the right direction can be the precursor to many other wise decisions in the future. Yes. By using one jute bag per person, we can eliminate 130 plastic bags, presuming that each of us uses 800 or more synthetic, non-biodegradable products annually (the figure is humougous). Other items like bottles, cans, food-related covers, and medical accessories are not included in this calculation. These items can take anywhere from 20 to 500 years to decompose, depending on their quality and exposure to sunlight. This damages the richness and holiness of our ecosystem, leaving an irreversible mark. With just one minor modification to our consuming habits, we may easily wipe out thousands of years of decomposing period, and when this change percolates to other social strata, the impact can be reinforced.

What is Jute? | The Golden Fiber Story

Jute: also called the golden fiber, is a long, soft, shiny and infrangible bast fiber spun into coarse fabric through the indigenous process of cultivation, cutting, bundling, retting (process of removal of jute fiber bundles from the outer woody stock and immersing the stalk in water), sculching and combing, where they are beaten up against wooden mallets for fiber extraction from stalk. These combined fibers are spun into yarns further enhanced for textile materials depending on end user consumption and demand.

Naturally designed to vary from light tan to shades of brown, the fabric is highly breathable, durable and sustainable making it a worthy alternative to synthetic and other fundamentally non-bio degradable fabrics. Another breakthrough in Jute is the construction of roads, making it a versatile alternative to potentially debilitating substitutes. As we see the evolution of Jute from a gunny bag to fashionable, trendy, utilitarian, constructive and worthy indispensable for consumption, its reaping benefits are gigantic and the immense potential of the fabric for innumerable ways of utilization is an ongoing exploration. Cotton : Cotton, a natural fiber, has been grown for millennia around the world and accounts for half the world’s fiber consumption. Cotton is sustainable, renewable, and biodegradable, making it an excellent choice as an environmentally- friendly fiber throughout its entire product life cycle.
